Assignment #18: ID Test

DIRECTIONS: Using the terms below, draw specific historic connections to one another and explain them in detail.  Each historic connection should be explained in the context of cause and effect, parallels, similarities and dissimilarities and more.  You should use either supporting evidence or primary sources (or both) in your answer if possible.  Students who draw 20 connections effectively will receive an A, 15 will receive a B, 10 will receive a C, 5 will receive a D and 0 will receive a F.

EXAMPLE: (IWW and Laissez Fair Capitalism) The Industrial Workers of the World are a union organization representing workers since the late1800s.  What made the IWW different from other unions was not only their strong organizing efforts among low skilled workers but also their fundamental belief that the system of inequality in the US came from capitalism itself.  In other words, it wasnt simply one factorys policies that needed to be protested, but the nations economic system in general.  Those policies, supported by big business leaders, were one of laissez fair capitalism, which called for as little government intervention as possible.  Although this would change in time throughout the 20th century, in the late 1800s politicians, court justices, governors and city bosses were mostly all in favor of less government involvement.  This was one of the factors that caused the IWW to form.

Comment: OK now, you dont have to be like me, but I think you get the general idea, right.  I could have used a primary source, but instead relied on a bit of outside evidence.
