Some people define feminism as relating to women or feminine things. This can also relate to clothing or various possessions. In the media feminism is portrayed through the many women figures that are famous such as Oprah and Condoles Rice. I support the feminist movement because I feel that women are just as capable of men at many jobs. However, I feel that women have already gone as far as they can go. As of right now women can do every conceivable job, except for serving the frontlines of battle. Also since Hilary Clinton is the first woman presidential candidate that actually has a chance.  Choose three countries not mentioned in the documentary and research the roles ofwomen in that countrys (or cultures) history.  How have they changed over time?  Whathas instigated that change?  Iraq- In Iraq women are treated very poorly and they have almost no rights. They are required to wear veils all of the time and they cannot wear pants. They are not allowed to go to school and they have to be with their husbands or brother when out in public. America- In American women has made much progress in gaining rights, and they can do every job that any man can do. Hilary Clinton is even the first women to actually have a chance to be president. Women however are not allowed to serve on the front lines of battle.

Isreal In Isreal women are considered the equal of men. They have a woman prime minister and women and men have a mandatory two years in the military. Men and women fight side by side as equals.

Choose a story from recent news reports that focuses on issues affecting womentoday internationally.  Print it out (or take notes if on TV) and then write a brief essayon what impact you believe that issue will have on the roles or lives of women in the future.  Hilary Clinton On CNN

She is very involved in politics and is the first women to actually have a chance to become president. This is a major stride for women and the womens rights movement. She and her husband who was also president work hard to serve and represent the people of America.

ˇ         What are different ways that people define feminism? What are its goals? How is feminism portrayed in the media? Do you consider yourself a supporter of the feminist movement? Why or why not? Feminism is the movement to try to equalize men and women in all aspects of life. But the media tends to associate feminists with an extreme, anti men view. I would consider myself a supporter of feminism, because as a woman, I would like to always have the same opportunities as men, and not be held back because I lack a Y chromosomeˇ         Do you think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals? Explain. How might the lives of young men and women be different today without the feminist movement?I think that the feminist movement has accomplished a few of its goals, like the vote for women, but we still have a long way to go. A woman still makes less than a man, even if they are doing the exact same job.

What are different ways that people define feminism? What are its goals? How is feminism portrayed in the media? Do you consider yourself a supporter of the feminist movement? Why or why not? -People define feminism as a female not being more dominant or more powerful then a man that is why they classify most jobs as mens jobs or all hard work or labor as being work that needs to be done by a man.-Feminism is portrayed in the media by the work that is done by mostly males.-I definitely consider myself as being a supporter of the feminist movement as me being a female and wanting the same rights givin  to men to be givin to me
2.Write down the obstacles feminist movements have encountered in different countries. Use three countries as examples outside the United States.
-France- In france women are expected to be confined as mothers and spouses only, were only givin the right to vote with the provisional government of the French republic ordinace, the first chief of state was a women and was addressed as Mr Pleven.
-USA- In the US the women are expected to be subordinate to her husband and dedicate herself to rearing god-fearing children to the best of her ability.
-Nicaragua- women joined the FSLN to challenge the somonza regime and it began to integrate women into their guerilla forces. Luisa Amanda Espinoza being the first sandinista women to be killed in battle against the somonza regime.
3.Do you think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals? Explain. How might the lives of young men and women be different today without the feminist movement?
-I think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals because without it women today would not have the rights that we have. I think the lives of men and women would be terrible because we as women, would not be able to do most of the things that women like to do that are generally done by men.
3.From the documentary, write down the kinds of work women are allowed to do, the kinds of work they are not allowed to do, and the arguments used to keep them out of certain jobs.
?
Choose three countries not mentioned in the documentary and research the roles of women in that countrys (or cultures) history. How have they changed over time? What has instigated that change?
Refer to question #2
Choose a story from recent news reports that focuses on issues affecting women today internationally. Print it out (or take notes if on TV) and then write a brief essay on what impact you believe that issue will have on the roles or lives of women in the future.

ˇ         What are different ways that people define feminism? What are its goals? How is feminism portrayed in the media? Do you consider yourself a supporter of the feminist movement? Why or why not?
Feminism is usually defined by the though that women should have equalitl and equal rights when compared to men. Personally I would not consider my self a supporter, I don't really care enough to be considered a supporter though I don't think they should be discrimated against.

ˇ         Write down the obstacles feminist movements have encountered in different countries.  Use three countries as examples outside the United States.

Iraq - Women are not allows to be in public without their veils, can't wear pants, can't vote.. basically no rights

Isreal - Women have the same rights and obligation as men before they were basically in the same position as iraq

USA - Women went from being looked down to, to being legally equal to men. Capable of doing/wearing anything they like

ˇ         Do you think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals? Explain. How might the lives of young men and women be different today without the feminist movement?

In some countries yes, the usa is not the world and you can't judge rights by just looking at us. If there was no femist movement women would be at home with the kids while men work and be awesome and stuff.

ˇ         From the documentary, write down the kinds of work women are allowed to do, the kinds of work they are not allowed to do, and the arguments used to keep them out of certain jobs.

Back then women could work in factories, maids, airline stewardess, and etc.  they could not be pilots, in the army, and stuff. Men argued women were not smart enough and phyically capable of doing some jobs.

ˇ        Choose three countries not mentioned in the documentary and research the roles of women in that countrys (or cultures) history.  How have they changed over time?  What has instigated that change?

answer 2

I'd say hilary clinton is a big focus/issue whatever. Since she might just be the first US President and stuff.

1. People define feminism as fighting for women's rights. They fight for their rights to party because they believe that women should be treated equally and they believe they are not. Im not opposed to what feminists are fighting for but i dont think i would consider myself a feminist supporter just because i dont really know enough to support it.
3. I think feminists are completing some goals obviously because women are treated alot better than they were in the past. If the feminists werent accomplishing anything women would probably have alot more problems to worry about than they do now. I think women are treated fair and just as equal as men in the present time.

Feminism is  the want for woemn to be treated equally to men aka same pay, respect, blah blah. Am I a supporter? No I don't really care enough, protest, care, or fight so I would not be considered a supporter but I have no problem with women and do think they should get equal rights.

Write down the obstacles feminist movements have encountered in different countries.  Use three countries as examples outside the United States.

They were basically treated as jokes when they tried the whole movement in America (at first) and

in other country women are treated as babymaking machines who cannot do anything ever unless it involves cooking and cleaning. It usually that severe but some countries do really opress women.

Do you think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals? Explain. How might the lives of young men and women be different today without the feminist movement?

In america? Yes I do believe they have accomplished alot, if the feminism movement didn't exist girls would most likely not go to school past highschool, would be expected to marry and have babies young and probably wouldn't have many jobs that are not like teaching, and stuff like that.

From the documentary, write down the kinds of work women are allowed to do, the kinds of work they are not allowed to do, and the arguments used to keep them out of certain jobs.

They were not allowed to be pilots

they were only allowed to be stewerdesses and only if they were attractive

Most of the arguments consisted of the facts that women are not as smart as men and they are much weaker sex so they cannot do anything physical and were only good at low skill jobs.

ˇChoose three countries not mentioned in the documentary and research the roles of women in that countrys (or cultures) history.  How have they changed over time?  What has instigated that change?

America has changed so that women are by law treated equal to men, though sometimes women get the short end of the stick when it comes to physical jobs and pay. Plus not having to get drafted :( lucky

Iraq nothing has changed and women are still just the same as they were due to religion and such

Isreal women are treated equal as they no longer have to wear veils, are drafted into the milatary just like men and can go to universities

Choose a story from recent news reports that focuses on issues affecting women today internationally.  Print it out (or take notes if on TV) and then write a brief essay on what impact you believe that issue will have on the roles or lives of women in the future.

1.  Feminism is a movement that can be supported by both men and women.  They push for fair and equal treatment of women.  They do not want special priveliges for them, but fair treatment.  They want fair and equal wages to men.
2.  I think they have accomplished some of their goals.  They have improved the situtation greatly.  It still isn't complete however.

1.Feminism is the fight for equal rights for women. Feminism is seen as over the top women in some aspects in the media.I am a supporter of Feminism because I believe everyone should have equal rights and Im a woman!

2.Middle East-In alot of countries in the Middle East woman are not seen as equals. They can't show practically any parts of their bodies and must wear veils. Woman are aloud to be beaten and usually aren't even aloud to have jobs.

3.I believe that the feminist movement has accomplished alot of its goals.Woman are aloud to vote and have alot of equal opprotunities as men. If the feminist movement wasn't existance women wouldn't have alot of things that they have today.

Many would believe feminism to be the state of being aware of womens importance to humanity and their rights.

Write down the obstacles feminist movements have encountered in different countries. Use three countries as examples outside the United States.

Iran- Women are veiled and dont have the rights men do.
Somalia- Women are raped on the streets while nobody stops it.
Australia- Women have equal rights, but the prejudice is still lingering there.

Do you think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals? Explain. How might the lives of young men and women be different today without the feminist movement?

Not at all. We may pretend that even in the United States, women has the rights of men, but it simply is not true. Americans still have the early images of the house wife. The image of the wife being a lower being. The image of a weaker person, in need of a man to guide and protect her.

From the documentary, write down the kinds of work women are allowed to do, the kinds of work they are not allowed to do, and the arguments used to keep them out of certain jobs.

Lower pay, direct discrimination, lower expectations, less respect.

Choose three countries not mentioned in the documentary and research the roles of women in that countrys (or cultures) history. How have they changed over time? What has instigated that change?

African countries- Women are likely to gather veggies and berries and prepare food. Wash clothes.
Asian Countries- Likely to do the same.
American Countries- We claim it is fair but we still have the image of the house wife.

Choose a story from recent news reports that focuses on issues affecting women today internationally. Print it out (or take notes if on TV) and then write a brief essay on what impact you believe that issue will have on the roles or lives of women in the future.

I honestly dont believe women will ever truly be treated equally, only because of what makes them different. We may pretend, but it will take a long and hard fight for equality.

ˇ         What are different ways that people define feminism? What are its goals? How is feminism portrayed in the media? Do you consider yourself a supporter of the feminist movement? Why or why not?
Feminism is the movement to make men and woman equal. I think that the media makes us woman look anti-men. i would consider myself a supporter because i am a woman and i want to have the same rights a man does.

ˇ         Write down the obstacles feminist movements have encountered in different countries.  Use three countries as examples outside the United States.

ˇ         Do you think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals? Explain. How might the lives of young men and women be different today without the feminist movement?
I think that the feminist movement has accomplished its goals because woman can hold high paying jobs, they can do whta they please, and they can even run for president and political offices.

ˇ         From the documentary, write down the kinds of work women are allowed to do, the kinds of work they are not allowed to do, and the arguments used to keep them out of certain jobs.
They were not allowed to be pilots. they could only hold low paying jobs.
they could work as maids and in factories.

What are different ways that people define feminism?
Feminism is the believe that woman are just as good or better than men.
What are its goals?
to show and teach people that woman are stronge, smart, independant people just as much as men
How is feminism portrayed in the media?
Pretty positively i haven't actually seen anytrhing putting woman down.
Do you consider yourself a supporter of the feminist movement? Why or why not? well considering i am a female definatly!because i beleive people should stop living in the past, women are just as good as men.

ˇ         Write down the obstacles feminist movements have encountered in different countries.  Use three countries as examples outside the United States. Iran-woman had rights then had them taken away, forced to were veils to hide their faces. Isreal-pretty much in the same position as iran, and Mexico-woman are treated less important and usually aren't sent to school.

ˇ         Do you think the feminist movement has accomplished its goals? Explain. How might the lives of young men and women be different today without the feminist movement? It is on its way, i mean there is still alot of things women haven't been able or wanted to do, but without the progress its made thus far woman would still be considered unimportant

ˇ         From the documentary, write down the kinds of work women are allowed to do, the kinds of work they are not allowed to do, and the arguments used to keep them out of certain jobs.Woman are allowed to do maid work and secretary jobs and that was pretty much it, they were not allowed to operate machines or anything like that because they were "fragile" and "weak"

ˇ         Choose three countries not mentioned in the documentary and research the roles of women in that countrys (or cultures) history.  How have they changed over time?  What has instigated that change?  England-woman are pretty much the same as the U.S. Franch Italy-pretty muc hstill stay home or work in family business , greece is the same.

ˇ         Choose a story from recent news reports that focuses on issues affecting women today internationally.  Print it out (or take notes if on TV) and then write a brief essay on what impact you believe that issue will have on the roles or lives of women in the future. Hilary Clinton running for U.S. president and may have a shot but people are still living in the past and wont except a woman
