All these stories are connected because they have to do with making other people feel less than them or powerless.The black codes were about keeping blacks at a different level after the war.Even though the blacks were no longer slaves, the white people made sure they werent equal. James Byrd was killed by white racists.This however was a step in the right direction because this was the first time in Jasper that a white man was sentenced to death for the killing of a black man.Photos of lynching are used to scare the victims and are considered hate crimes. The skinheads are a group that caused a lot of violence.These things mean a lot to us today because it shows how much we have overcome and helps us not to make the same mistakes.Also some of these groups like the KKK and the skinheads are still around today and people need to know all the bad things they have done in their past so they wont support them or join them.
