2.What relationships, patterns and lessons has American history taught us concerning justice? That any race that is new to this country or is different from what is considered to becivilized (white) America is discriminated and hated against. First with blacks before, during and after the civil rights movement. Mexicans got there share in the 1990s during their immigration to the U.S. and every middle eastern person was grouped together as terrorists after 9/11.
EQ1.How is ethics, justice and rights culturally defined, understood and measured by different groups in America?
It depends on how that group is treated by other people. Middle class white suburbia thinks that the rights are more just and fair than newly immigrated Mexicans would.
2.What relationships, patterns and lessons has American history taught us concerning justice?
Justice only pertains to certain groups of people. At first, only white men would recieve true justice, later women and black men. We still don't let some people even get married, where's the justice there?
3.What values influence the ethical decisions individuals make in everyday life? How are they formed? How do they change?
People's moral values and their integrity, from experiences, education, and family help indiduals make ethical desicions in everyday life. Some people who are ignorant and uneducated still have some growing experiences to go through.
4.How do political, economic and social changes influence our understanding of ethics, justice and rights?
We are heavily influenced by others that we see and hear.
5.Are ethical values, sense of justice or definition and application of rights culturally relative or culturally absolute?
Our ethical values often can be traced back to our family's ethical values from the culture you are raised in, but this is not absolute. Sometimes you go through an experience that will change your ethical balance.
6.What impact does the legal system have on American culture or cultural groups in America?
Some potential immigrants feel the laws for transfer are too harsh, so they sneak over here illegally. Also, the legal system has been known to be racially biased as well.
7.Under what circumstances or conditions might (or does) political, economic, military or religious power corrupt justice?
Religion creates a bias towards people of different religions, sexuality, and some ethnicities as well. Religion can also too closely influence politicians decisions, even if their scripts don't make any logical sense in today's scientific world. America is also very Pro-Gun and Pro-War.
8.What examples of political, economic, social, religious, environmental, or military injustice exist today?
Most people do not agree with our current situation in the Middle East, and many do not like the current president - who was voted in for a second term. Our government has done almost nothing to support the international fight against pollution, green-house gases, and o-zone depletion, which we've caused almost exclusively.
9.Are all rights inalienable? To what extent can political, economic and social institutions reduce or eliminate rights?
You should not have the right to steal, rape, kill, or spread hate or violence.
10.What is the purpose of rights in American society? To what extent is the enforcement of rights in America effective?
The purpose of rights in American society was originally to create distinction between Americans and other countries. Still, many groups weren't included in these rights, and some still aren't today. Still our laws are stable and immediate effective in court and law.
RAFTS 3.You are a Chicano farm worker on strike. Write a song describing your poor working conditions for your employers.
The sun is so hot Slaving the fields all day in one spot. I don't have enough money to feed my family. And these long hard days make it hard to breathe. These big guns don't even give me enough pay. We've got no union, they don't want to hear what we have to say, so put down your rusted shovels and broken pitchforks on the ground Stop working in this dry heat, lets make a sound...

Where were you? I'll repeat the question...what took you so long?
What values influence the ethical decisions individuals make in everyday life? How are they formed? How do they change? Many things determine the ethical decisions we make in our lives. Family is one main component. Your religion also forms the ethical and moral decisions you make. You are a judge on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Rwanda. Explain your position on granting amnesty.I feel that granting amnesty to people who admit their faults is a good thing. We need to forgive before we, as a country, will be able to move on. By granting amnesty, people get salvation for their sins and are able to go foreword with a new and better Rwanda.
What is the purpose of rights in American society? To what extent is the enforcement of rights in America effective? The purpose of rights in the American society is to keep the country maintained and in order. The enforcement of rights in America are effective to the extent of you getting caught by the law. They are very effective by police officers and in the court system.
You are a police officer. Design a poster for a high crime neighborhood that explains how peoples rights will be protected.

today we are here to talk about thw environment and how we are polution it. and how animals are becomeing extict becouse of our action and the polor ice caps melting and all the bears dying off. if all the ice caps melt we all will have a problem with it.
Essential Question 9. Are all rights inalienable? To what extent can political, economic and social institutions reduce or eliminate rights?
All rights are not inalienable. Every American citizen has equal rights, all of which are protected by the American Constitution. However when people act violently, they are forgoing these civil rights. For example according to the First Amendment, every American citizen has the right to civilly protest an event or idea or whatever, but when they become violent and get out of control, they threaten others lives and they lose their right. Another example of this is if some one yelled fire in a crowded theater. They have freedom of speech, but at the same time they are endangering others.
Rafts 2. Al Gore talking about global warming.
Global warming is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with. Because of global warming, polar ice caps are melting and pouring fresh water into our sal****er oceans. This desalinization of the water changes marine life environments and threatens fish, crustaceans, other seafood, as well all other sea creatures. If the fish die, the entire fishing industry dies with it. This can cripple many major cities and even countries that depend on seafood for food and trade. In addition to this, the emission of harmful chemicals and fumes, especially from fossil fuel burning cars, is destroying our ozone layer. This layer is the key to keeping out ultraviolet rays from the sun. Without it, we will slowly cook our planet. These are two out of numerous issues dealing with global warming and if something is not done to stop the effects, our planet will perish.

1. POSTER- YOU DO THE CRIME, YOU DO THE TIME, AND THEN MORE TIME...
How is ethics, justice, and rights culturally defined, understood and measured by different groups in America? Ethics, justice, and rights are culturally defined in our society mainly by the color of your skin. We may not like or appreciate it but thats how it is. If you are a person of color, your mainly put into or labeled in a group Other words, segregation. It may not seem like it at the time but once you think about it, its there. Every one has and deserves their rights so thats basically not a big issue but when someone trys to override you of your rights speak up. Youre a blind female defense lawyer. In your closing, explain why your client should still receive disability assitance. I would state the obvious, that I am blind and I know without the disability assitance I dont know how I would manage. With the disability assitance it would be the same for my client. Without it he/she might struggle.
I don't get it ... I remember doing most of this stuff, maybe it's deja vu but whatever.
2. What relationships, patterns and lessons has American history taught us concerning justice?
American history has tought us many things about justice. Most of what it has taught us is ethically wrong. Lynchings, segration, blah blah etc have all at one point evaded any action by our justice system and nowadays we still see trials getting rigged, payed off, etc. It isn't too uncommon not to mention things are. One person getting sent to jail another getting a fine that barely dents his wallet.
Things are not perfect in our justice system and I understand that will never be the case but there is much to be worked on in America. RAFTS
1.You are a police officer. Design a poster for a high crime neighborhood that explains how peoples rights will be protected.
Alright this is going to be awesome. My plan is too have a huge poster with a picture of Tim Allen, dressed like a huge mafia boss, behind bars.. and in front of it, it says "I don't think so, Tim!"
How is ethics, justice and rights culturally defined, understood and measured by different groups in America?I feel like a lot of people think its okay to say something about someone jokingly or behind their back. I feel like they think if they are friends with someone of a different gender or race than its okay to make fun of that person and defend what they do by saying things like I can say that; my friend is ----- its stupid and a poor excuse. Because people do think that if youre friends with someone culturally different than you that its okay to treat them a certain way, however if you arent friend with someone different from you, than treating them differently is wrong. I think that the way people judge treating others unethically based on knowing a person of a different race/gender is just as bad and it needs to be taken into account also.
you are a police officer. Design a poster for a high crime neighborhood that explains how peoples rights will be protected. Okay so then me and Tyrell are dressed as police officers and james is lurking in a dark corner, looking like a drug addict and Tyrell and I are looking tough towards james and on the other side were smiling at a friendly adorable family. The family will consist Ezekiel, kara, and ricky. On the bottom of the poster itll say back off! Scum!
4. The verdict of this court is that the defendant is guilty although he was following orders as a person he should know the difference between right and wrong and the crimes that he is accused of were wrong. In that being said he shall be dishonorably discharged.
10.What is the purpose of rights in American society? To what extent is the enforcement of rights in America effective? The purpose is to make its people believe that they are living a life free of restrictions. To make us believe that we live in a country liberated and different from the rest. To keep us under control and to devote ourselves to our nation. It is only effective ot a certain extent. As much of America suffer from financial hardships and people begin to doubt what the nation is doing, is actually right.
RAFTS2.You are Al Gore. Yes, you are. Create a brief presentation that explains how & why the environment is being damaged.Hello, I am Al Gore. I want to slow the process of global warming. I want all of you to stop using populatants while I sit back in my Learjet and burning thousands of pounds of jetfuel. Keep your lights off to reduce energy consuption, while I rest at my resort while back at home my mansions lights remain on, when I am thousands of miles away.Al Gore for president! 2000
8.What examples of political, economic, social, religious, environmental, or military injustice exist today? well the fact that we are in a war in iraq that most americans do not want to be in. soldiers are fighting in iraq for america when the government has done nothing but worry about the war in iraq that they forget about the other issues in america such as global warming, immigration, etc.
IM AL GORE! TALK ABOUT POLLUTION. - The seas and oceans are being polluted by chemical products and oil. the air is being polluted by gases smoke and chemicals. people litter and throw trash on teh ground all the time. people are destructiing rainforests and trees are very important. animals are dying and losing there homes because of this.
EQ 10. The purpose of rights in American society is to protect the people from a caste system and a militaristic government. The Puritans fled from Britain to found the American colonies as a place free from their religious persecution. Without our rights, we could not criticize the government without fear; we could not practice any religion that we wished (so long as it doesn't harm others); we could not vote; we could not own weapons to defend ourselves with. The list goes on and on.
RAFTS 6. The rights of an individual should not be vulnerable to limitation through public vote. In a country such as America, so many cultures are forced to live right alongside each other that making the public vote on individual rights would lead to abuse in order to discriminate against certain people.
For example, abortion is a right that has been voted on by the public. This is wrong because it is an individual's choice to do so. Children should not be forced on to people who feel that they are not ready to become parents; they should never be used as some sort of punishment. Those people (such as myself) who believe that abortion is morally wrong are free to NOT have their children aborted. However, it is not my or anyone else's place to tell others they cannot prevent the birth of their own child. Those who wish to have abortion should be able to. Preventing them from having that choice not only jeopardizes their well-being but also the well-being of their child(ren).
3.What values influence the ethical decisions individuals make in everyday life? How are they formed? How do they change?
The values that influence the ethical decisions are family, moral values, and experience. They are formed by experiencing things and how you are brought up. They change by the different friends you meet and changing your surroundings.

EQ. 8 There are many military injustices occuring around the world right now. The fact that China has taken over Tibet without any real reason or explanation. The U.S. led invasion of Iraq without the support of the American people. My older brother has done two active tours in Iraq and from what he says it is really bad in some areas. Some are doing OK however. The U.S. is spending so much energy over seas that we are forgetting our own problems over here such as the bad economy and the immigration problem.

It would also have a picture of police officers helping to clean up the community, clean up the community parks, etc.
EQ 2. Justice is not for all. It only pertains to what America thinks it should. It started as only white men. Eventually women got rights, then african americans and immigrants.
8.An example of religious injustice has to be the way most religions frown upon homosexuals and lesbians. Also, in the military they will "allow" homosexuals in the army but they can't even tell anyone what thier sexuality is.

EQ 2. What relationships, patterns and lessons has American history taught us concerning justice?
American history taught us every year from all the court cases, riots, or whatever in violence and the such really goes to show how the system works. There are the quirks, there are the let downs, and there are the best parts of the system. It tries to work for all types, yet we learn and apply after whatever something happens, or try to prevent it happening again.
RAFTS 5. You are a blind female defense lawyer. In your closing, explain why your client should still receive disability assistance.
Depending on my client's case really, I would make it my upmost priority that if my client deserves it, should get it. Using me as a prime example, yet making a great part of being a lawyer in the world we're in now, is very hard. The disability would help the client get better in life, and at least stay away from depression with not having any money, and actually having money to actually live a life they want, just with disability.
